How would you make the movie
In your group please design how you would make the movie.
Now will further explore the concept and functions of mediation by examining two versions of the same story, Lost and Found , by Oliver Jeffers.
First, we are going to adapt the book into a storyboard of a movie as a class. Think about how you would change the story to fit a animated film. What would you show in the film? How would you narrate it? What kinds of sounds would you add to the film? What kind of music if any? Is there anything you would add to adapt the book into the film?
As a group you will have a small section of the book that you will adapt into a story board. Here are some examples of story boarding:

Next, watch the animated film version of Lost and Found (2008, Studio AKA). As you watch, pay close attention to as many details as you can. Each group member will pay extra-special attention to a different one of the four sections in the table below. Think deeply about the various modes of communication and what is represented through each of them, and make some notes. Also jot down any unfamiliar vocabulary; guessing at the spellings is fine.
Please take notes on the following topics:
Visual Imagery and Written Language
Gesture and Movement
Music and Sound
Narration and Spoken Language
Now after all this please make a diagram of similarities and differences on your blogs.
Take 10 or more or more screen captures
After watching the movie take 10 or more screen captures and use the image as a point of reference to comment on the movie versus book.
Also write an overall summary of your feelings about the conversion to the animation.
You can comment on:
1. Moments that you were a good interpretation of the book
2. moments you thought were bad.
3. additional scenes that helped or distracted from the story
4. symbolic moments or objects
5. techniques you notice with the camera or bgm or sound effects.
Also compare your storyboard choices to the movie version we watched.
