Music television--Final assignment
Interview someone who lived before the MTV generation and ask them what it is was like. Have a conversation for 7 minutes or more. (40 or older) You have 2 options to do this.
- You can do this with a native English speaker (you can do this in person or over Skype but you must record the audio)
- You can do this with a Japanese speaker and you must translate the script
- How did they listen to music?
- Where did they find out about new artists?
- What was their image of the musician?
- Do they remember the first time they watched music on TV?
- How did they feel about it?
- How did you choose what music you wanted to listen to?
- What were some of your favorite musicians? Did you know what they looked like? How did you know this?
- Do you think the looks of an artist is important?
- How did artists become popular when you were young?
- What are differences you have noticed from early MTV and today's videos?
- When MTV became popular did you notice people watching television more?
- Did you notice fashion trends that copied musicians and idols when MTV became more popular?
- Which did you life better life before or after MTV?
- How did your listening interests change after MTV?
- Did you buy more music because of MTV?
- Did popular musicians change when MTV became popular?

- Translate the audio into English if in Japanese
- Write down a reflection of your thoughts about the conversation
- Post a video you really enjoy. Explain why you like this video. Do you think future generations will also like this video, why or why not?
